After 38 years, Konami's never-localized Castlevania-meets-Goonies NES crossover has returned as a Roblox clone
Today's Konami Press Start showcase was relatively low-key, but there was one game showcased that absolutely blew my mind – just not, necessarily, in a good way. Konami Wai Wai World Craft is a modern reimagining of a wild NES platformer that was never released outside of Japan. Normally, I'm all about this kind of thing – but this new take on Wai Wai World seems to have transformed into Konami's take on Roblox. Wai Wai World Craft was actually announced around last year's Tokyo Game Show, but

Sonic is allowed to fire guns in Fortnite because he’s an android, not the real one, Sonic Team boss says
The head of Sonic Team has explained how Sonic can appear in Fortnite despite Sega deciding he should never be allowed to fire a gun. Sonic is the first character players unlock in the current season of Fortnite, which is based on video game crossovers and includes other guest characters like Crash Bandicoot, Mega Man, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Joker from Persona and Spyro the Dragon. Some players have questioned, however, why Sega allowed Sonic to appear in a game with gunplay when Sonic Team

Afterworld will be strategy royalty Paradox's "most approachable" game, and after raising cannibal fish-mutants to conquer America I'm hooked
If I can do justice to the hour I spent playing Afterworld, you'll see why it's the most exciting reveal of Gamescom 2026. Even if you don't like grand strategy games, which this is, Afterworld may be the first one you fall for. It's designed to be the "most approachable" game from developer Paradox Interactive (Crusader Kings, Stellaris), says game director Dan Lind, and although I've struggled to make sense of many of the developer's previous titles, I jumped into this one and intuitively had
